About

Cecilia Szabó

I am a German-Hungarian artist who explores notions of nature and the various roles it plays both for individuals and in interpersonal relationships.

In doing so, I address pressing ecological issues, examine and question the responses to them – often in an urban context. Idealisation and escapism, aesthetic and mystical aspects play just as much a role as communication and demarcation. I invite critical reflection on cultural traditions of perception, representation and evaluation of the natural world.

My work provoke subtly; my aim is to reveal the delicate and mysterious, the quiet, transparent and at the same time dynamic.

I work across media and concepts, currently focusing on artistic photography and video works. I live in Germany.
